Pickup at the airport was quick and easy, especially with the car on the airport property and a short walk from the terminal. The car was better than advertised, clean, few miles, and performed perfectly. Check in and out, late in the evening for both times, was performed by knowledgeable and friendly people.

Alamo did not answer their telephone at 1:17 am when my plane landed in Fairbanks, AK. I had arrived early and wanted to pick up my rental car at 1:17 am. The contracted pickup time was set for 10:00 am. All Alamo's advertised information said they were open to 1:30 am. Later that same morning, I arrived at 10:58 am for my 10:00 am pickup. Alamo had given away my rental. No phone call. Nothing to see if I was on the way. And the desk clerk was dismissive and not the least bit apologetic about it.

Love going to Fairbanks- so easy!

The vehicle smelt badly of burnt marijuana. I used a can of Lysol spray to help mask the smell, but the damage had already been done. The suv (or any suv) I had requested was not available and I was offered a truck. The agent reduced the renal fee by $15 a day, which was appreciated, but the need for the extra seating was not met (big logistical problems because of this. We were in Fairbanks for a ski race and needed to transport kids.) Overall, I’m glad we got a vehicle, but it was a less than stellar experience.

I reserved a small SUV because I was traveling with skis and friends but was told I had to take either a small compact or a van. Avis “sold” me a product they didn’t have. The compact was very nice but not what I needed for the trip.
